Wednesday 4-6 MARB 241 Optimus_Prime
When: 4-6pm Wednesday
Where: MARB 241
Synopsis: never one to be perturbed by a failed experiment, this semester im going to try screening several movie length animes in a two hour block. same as last semester ill give you all fair warning as to whats on, though dont expect a full synopsis every week since i really cant be bothered however if theres something i think is worthy of note ill include it. as not all of these animes will fill hte 2 hours ive got some things lined up to fill in the slots as well.

Tuesday 1-2 MARB 241 Optimus_Prime

Title: Double Feature of So Ra No Wo To (sounds of the skies) and The Big O
When: 1pm Tuesday
Where:  MARB 241
Synopsis: set in a military outpost in the the country of Helvetia (which is apparently Switzerland) So Ra No Wo To follows the day to day activities of Kanata Sorami, the newest recruit of the platoon stationed there, as well as her superiors and fellow solderer. it has been described as military K-On! by one of my sources. however far from being giggly moe-blob punctuated with J-pop songs with the depth of a spoon (my apologies to any Mio fans) So Ra No Wo To is a much more developed anime, sinking a good deal of time into world building as well containing some beautiful music and animation, while still containing plenty of moe-blob.

40 years ago everyone in the world lost their memories. however humans are a resourceful lot and eventually managed to rebuild society (take that A Wind Named Amnesia). however for Paradigm City there is an omnipresent threat of lost technology being used for nefarious ends. enter Roger Smith, a negotiator who basically functions like a cross between the transporter, batman and an evangelion pilot, combining an obsessively uptight attitude, a heroic streak that he indulges with a variety of hightech toys and a tendency to pilot his giant robot with complete disregard for property damage. written and animated in part as a homage to american noir films, the series combines detective story style mysteries with giant robot fights as only the japanese could do.

Thursday 1-2 HUED 102 Optimus_Prime

Title: Darker Than Black
When: 1pm Thursday
Where: HUED 102
Synopsis: 10 years ago, an abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo, altering the sky and wreaking havoc on the landscape. this mirrors an area in South America designated Heaven's Gate, which disappeared 5 years ago along with everything in a 1500km radius. in addition to this the real stars disappeared, replaced by false stars, each one a reflection of the life of a contractor: beings who at the cost of their humanity and an often bizarre remuneration (such as eating flowers or breaking ones own fingers) have gained supernatural powers. focusing around several characters within this world but mainly around the contractor Hei aka Li Shun Sheng aka BK-201, a contractor who generates electricity, working with several other characters for a mysterious organisation known as the Syndicate.
