~Upcoming Events~ | reelanime 2010! (Friday 10th September 2010) | PAnZuRiEL |
The reelanime 2010 film festival is here, and that means the Australian premiere of Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance! So, being the dutiful anime enthusiasts that we are, we'll be screening the club's copy of Evangelion 1.11: You Are (Not) Alone during our regular movie screening slot at 4pm on Wednesday the 8th of September, and then going to see 2.0 in the cinema at 7:10pm on Friday the 10th of September. We'll also be having dinner, most likely after the movie, which would mean around 9pm or so.
The festival itself runs from September 2nd to September 15th, and the other movies being shown are all worth a look.
The movies are all showing at Cinema Nova, 380 Lygon St., Carlton. [map]
Ticket prices are $16.50 adult or $12.00 concession for a single movie, or $67.50 adult or $45 concession for a five-movie pass, which also includes a limited edition Summer Wars poster. If you want to see the four movies aside from Eva 1.0, it's slightly cheaper to buy the festival pass if you have concession, and slightly more expensive if you don't (so you'd be paying $1.50 for a poster, basically).
All session times are available here (click on "buy tickets online" next to the film you're interested in).
Post in the thread to discuss dinner plans for Friday, or groups to see the other movies showing at the festival. | | Number of Comments: 6 | Leave a Comment |
| Summer Camp! (Monday 7th February 2011) | Smith | Hi Everyone. I know it's early but I'm hoping to get some idea what numbers will be like for summer camp.
I'm currently thinking either the week starting the 31st of Janurary or the week starting 7th of Feburary. If one of those is better let me know. (Also if you can drive let me know too!!)
[UPDATE 1/09/10] Venue will most likely be at: http://www.stayz.com.au/64317 Unless someone books it when we want it before we get numbers up!
Please let me know how likely you are to come by responding: - Hell Yeah! - Hell Yeah... if I don't have work - Maybe if nothing else comes up - Most likely not - Shit... that's the week I'm planning to wash my hair. | | Number of Comments: 16 | Leave a Comment |

| Lunasy Winter Camp (Monday 12th July 2010) | Kairal | Well guys it's getting close to camp time once again.
Once a year Lunasy embarks on a quest to a small lodge in Manton somewhere in the mountains high above Mansfield whereupon we eat, drink, play videogames and watch anime.
The lodge holds twelve people and we'll need four of those to be drivers in order to get there. The club provides breakfast and dinner though you'll need to provide your own snacks and booze and hookers and whatnot (though we will provide blackjack). Also traditionally we eat out one night and I have no intention of breaking precious tradition.
The price of admission is $20 for drivers and $50 for everyone else. We'll probably be going from 12th-16th of July which is the first week of mid-year break.
At the moment I'm just looking for expressions of interest. I won't be accepting payment for a few weeks.
If you've been on one of these camps before you know how awesome they are, but I'd especially recommend it to anyone who hasn't been to one before. It's a lot of fun and a great way to get to know people.
We will be meeting at 1pm in Carpark 3 (near Chisholm college), except for those people who need to be picked up.
The following people have paid: Kieran Steph Rob Nick Joseph Liam Brendan David Ashlie Bianca Will Sam Alex
Still waiting on payment from these guys: John Mark | | Number of Comments: 117 | Leave a Comment |
| LUNASY Website 2010 (Wednesday 30th June 2010) | PAnZuRiEL | We're having a competition to design a new layout and appearance for the website and forum. Participants may enter more than once, designs will be narrowed down to a shortlist by member votes, and then the committee will decide on the winner at the following meeting.
The person who submitted the winning design will receive some kind of prize (the nature of which is yet to be determined), and may also add "designed a website" to their resume. And what a website it shall be!
Competition closes end of semester. | | Number of Comments: 0 | Leave a Comment |
| Karaoke! (Saturday 15th May 2010) | Kairal | I'm pretty sure there's some kind of pre-requisite that anime aficionados love singing. Thus I have been coerced by Steph into organizing a Karaoke night, which you are all required to attend so that my off-key singing isn't so blatantly noticeable.
Where: KBOX, 52 La Trobe St, Melbourne (CBD). [map] When: Saturday 15th May, 5:00pm to 7:00pm. Cost: $10 per person, members only (non-members may sign up on the night), free drinks also included. RSVP: Saturday 8th May.
We'll be going to dinner afterwards (around 7:30pm), although you shouldn't feel obliged to come. You can also come to dinner if you weren't at karaoke. The venue is still up for discussion, but at the moment we're looking at a Chinese dumpling place Smith mentioned going to be picked on the night due to lack of apparent interest. | | Number of Comments: 40 | Leave a Comment |
| Introduction Dinner (Saturday 17th April 2010) | Magikan | ANOTHER EDIT (9/4/10): Turns out Izakaya Chuji cant take a group as big as ours so we have to find an alternative venue (most likely Ajisen but suggestions are welcome)
EDIT: Please note the date for this has been pushed back a week to the 17th!
It's time for the annual introduction dinner for new members! In a shocking break of tradition this event will NOT be at Ajisen Ramen! EDIT: Haha! Ajisen is back! Full details below:
Venue: Ajisen Ramen Location: 130 Bourke Street ([url=http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&q=ajisen+ramen+melbourne&fb=1&hq=ajisen+ramen&hnear=melbourne&view=map&cid=4164609214604610176&ved=0CFAQpQY&z=16&iwloc=A]map[/url]) Time: 7:00pm Date: Saturday 17th April 2010
After dinner we'll most likely go somewhere for drinks, maybe at Nihonshu (open 8pm to 1am), maybe Chi Lounge, maybe the very depths of hell itself (i hear it has good sake)
In order to make a booking we need to know numbers, so please state explicitly in your post if you will be attending
