Reminder to all members that we have a bunch of events coming up within the next couple of months... but a few of these need to get numbers done now, so we can book/prepare the events properly.

- Shopping Trip - May 24th. Express interest in our forum thread

- Mid year Camp - If you wish to attend, we need to know by June 1st. Head to the forum thread to express your interest in attending.

- Karaoke Night - If you wish to attend, we need to know by July 1st. Head to the forum thread to express your interest in attending.

It is crucial that for the Camp and Karaoke Night, that you say you're attending BEFORE the R.S.V.P date, otherwise you will not be able to attend unfortunately :'(

Animavericks

From now until next week Thursday, I will be asking members if they wish to subscribe to our sponsor, Animavericks. They're a J-Pop / Anime / Games magazine.

First Monthly Marathon
Just a reminder to all that the first monthly Lunasy marathon is coming up at the end of this month. In fact it's only a week and a bit away on Saturday the 29th of March.

2008 Committee
Congratulations to those who were elected as the new Committee for 2008! The Committee page has been updated to show the new Committee members

2008 AGM

This year's AGM shall take place on the 29th of February

This meeting's purpose is to elect the new committee for the year and to commence organising club activities for the year.

When: February 29
Where: Seats just outside Hooper Lecture Theater (where we had our club meetings last year
Time: 2pm

If you can't make it to the meeting, but you wanted to run for a position. Tell me privately (PM or email) and I'll jot your name down to nominate for said position.

In addition, if you cannot make the meeting, but wanted to attend and vote, you may choose a proxy, but announce your proxy on here before the meeting takes place.

Karaoke Night
Who: You. Yes, all of you. No excuses!
What: Four hours of karaoke madness!
Where: Chi Lounge, level 1-3, 195 Little Bourke St., Melbourne city center.
When: Saturday the 19th of September, 6:00pm 'til 10:00pm.
Why: Why the hell not?

The karaoke is "free", but there's a minimum spend of $25 per person. The menu can be found here (pdf). (Room hire is an additional $10, but I'm sure it won't bankrupt the club to cover that.)

I'd like to get notice from interested parties quickly, because I'll need to book ahead of time. Also, I recommend we split a banquet or two instead of just spending all our (your) money on cocktails.

Dragonball Evolution
Friday the 1st of May, LUNASY is going to go see Dragonball Evolution in Gold Class. If ever there was a way to watch a horrible movie in style, this is surely it!
Booking for the screening will occur on the 12th of April, so get your name in before then! There will be dinner beforehand too!
We'll all meet out the front of crown, where ticket line is, before the movie starts. If you're late, gotta find your own way to us for we'll be inside by then
RSVP is the 12th of April!!! DON�T MISS OUT. If you withdraw after I have booked this (which will be done on the 19th of April) then you will still have to pay, so make sure of what you're doing!!!

A recurring event for 2009, one room will contain games (console, board, card) and the other room will be screening anime all day long.
For those that are partaking in the games part, if you have stuff you could bring (mainly tv's and consoles + controllers) that would be greatly appreciated.
A pizza run might happening in the evening if people get the munchies or something, but will see what happens.
This will happen once a month, so if you can't make it to one, try again next time

Introductory Dinner
When: Saturday, March 21st
Where: Ajisen Ramen (located on Bourke St, in the CBD)
Time: 7:30pm
Cost: Whatever your meal costs

An opportunity for all new members to meet the older members over dinner, to get to know them and the other newbies =]

Essentially a casual night out to share a meal, and possibly all go wandering around the city and chit chat, but basically a good opportunity to meet the older members, most of which form the current committee and just a time to have some fun.

End of Year Event
When: December 6th (Saturday)
Where: Glenn College, La Trobe Bundoora. Corner of Plenty Road and Kingsway Drive (enter car park 6)
Time: 10am - Midnight
Cost: $5 (non cosplayers) - Free (cosplayers)
Lots of prizes to give away on the day through gaming, cosplaying, improving and pocky eating!!!

Games Day 2nd
A second Games Day shall be coming up!!!

The Lowdown: People bring tv's and gaming consoles to play and challenge others in a variety of games for PS2/3, XBOX 360, Wii. In a second room there will be an anime marathon, showing some of the latest series' out of Japan!!!

When: August 30th (Saturday)
Where: Glenn College Seminar Rooms 4 & 5
Time: 10am til 10 or 11pm
Cost: FREEEEEEE

So bring your friends! All of them! The more the merrier :3 Please bring your friends... I'll get lonely otherwise... :(

Oh and how can I forget... numerous prizes from Madman, Animezone and Animavericks, to give away to you folk :3 some will be random, others will be in game competitions. Lots of posters and DVD's!!!

International Film Marathon
The marathon for May will be a little bit different to the previous ones done so far in 2008. This time, LUNASY will be screening four international films.

Usual scenario for the marathons as always, Glenn College Lecture Theater, last Saturday of May, pizza for dinner... what more could anyone possibly want? How about some DVD prizes courtesy of Madman? Well you can have that too!

When: May 31st (Saturday)
Where: Glenn College Lecture Theater
Time: 10am until 10pm
Cost: $5 (includes pizza dinner)

Shopping Trip
LUNASY's annual shopping trip is almost upon us, so get your finances ready.

On May 24, we shall embark on a journey in search of collectible items such as figurines, posters, DVD's and other various anime products, at various anime / pop-culture stores.

This quest shall begin within the town of Box Hill and from there we continue onward to the towns of Footscray and the city known as Melbourne.

So grab your sword/bow/axe, for it will be needed to do battle against the forces of darkness.

When: May 24th (Saturday)
Where: Beginning at Box Hill Central, progressing to various locations
Time: 11am til about 5pm (might find a place in city for dinner)
Cost: Daily Zone 1 & 2 ticket, plus whatever you buy at stores

Games Day / Anime Marathon
LUNASY will be running the second Anime Marathon for 2008, but this is also a combined event with our Games Day.

We urge anyone interested in attending for the games portion, to bring their TV and / or gaming console, so that everyone can experience some great gaming! ^_^

Hopefully there will be prizes from Madman, to give away! So come to the event for some anime viewing, gaming fun (tournaments will be held also!) and enjoy a great day out!

Dinner in the City
The first official event has been planned!

Basically this event is aiming to get as many new members as possible to attend. Here they will get to know the committee members and settle into the club.

Afterwards, we could wander around the city for a little bit if anyone is up for that, find a place to sit and chat some more, etc.

When: April 5th
Where: Ajisen Ramen, located on Bourke Street in the city
Note: I think the closest station was Melbourne Central, but I'm not 100% sure anymore... it has been a long time since I ventured into the city
Time: 8pm
Cost: Whatever your meal is (on average, about $20 for dinner and drink)

The first marathon is coming over the horizon!!! Time to enjoy some more anime as a club in 2008!
